Back to some real work

Taking a break from playing with nine patches to work on the first of the ‘peace’ quilts. The one-inch squares (from here) have all been pieced into strips, and laid across the large nine-patch quilt to cover the seams (see here if you missed it):

And then I couched a cream and black silk yarn along the edges:

There is a long way still to go with this one.

      Very expensive silk brocade from The Silk Route at Harrogate K & S. The small piece I purchased will have to go a very long way!

    So, couldnt hack the hot pink any more eh? do like that cream and black thread gives a very subtle definition.

      A little hot pink goes a very long way, I find.
      The cream and black yarn is a luscious silk bourette; it has a really lovely texture and is great for couching outlines.

    Very subtle colouring. Patchwork is a great way to make an expensive fabric go a long way!
