A pocketful of time

The cloth changed its name yesterday. Until yesterday it was Night and Day.

Night:

and Day:

It started life as a cloth about time: about how it’s a peculiarly human need to carve up time into convenient measures – minutes, hours, days, weeks, months – when really there is just night and day following each other in an eternal cycle. There is just time.

And then a crocheted lace pocket lodged itself into the corner, and it became a cloth about keeping bits of time. Not so much about what day or month we call whatever today is, but about the bits of time we don’t ever want to lose. A place to preserve those precious times that we need to remember. It landed in the shop and is waiting for the right person to take it home and keep it safe.
